Volunteer Vacation
The Rebuilding Continues in Greensburg, Kansas
Room under constructionOn May 4, 2007, the community of Greensburg, Kansas, just 45 miles southeast of Dodge City, was nearly destroyed by a F5 tornado. These courageous people are rebuilding their community with the help of their neighbors near and far. The community is rebuilding "green" by using sustainable materials and ecologically sound designs. You can help. Make your vacation count by participating in a 'Volunteer Vacation' and support this community.
There are immediate volunteer opportunities in Greensburg in the following areas:
  • Interior painting
  • Finish carpentry
  • Flooring installation
  • Tile and Formica installation
  • Electrical, plumbing, and HVAC finish work
  • Final cleaning

New houses are constructed under the supervision of Mennonite Housing Repair. Work on existing houses is completed under the supervision of South Central Kansas Tornado Recovery Organization.

If you would like to volunteer, contact Linda Howard at (800) 636-5242 or by email.
